First time Cruise

Well this last week Landon and I got to go on a Royal Carribbean Cruise. It was my first cruise ever and since we were told about it at Christmas, I have been so excited. There was a group of 34 made up of family and friends. It was so much fun to have such a big group. The boat was absolutely amazing. I don't know how that building can float. Every detail inside was beautiful and I was in awe of all the things to do on a boat. We played mini golf, full court basketball, went to shows, an ice skating arena, casino, piano bar and the pool. We were due for a break and vacation and what better place to do it than in the southern Carribbean.

We were lucky enough to visit St. Maarten, St. Croix, Barbados, and St. Thomas. Unfortunately two of our scheduled stops had to be cancelled. We were supposed to get to go to Antigua and St. Lucia but because of someone who had a common cold, those countries refused to let us port because they were fearful of the swine flu. We were all pretty bummed but were able to make the best of it anyway.

All of the workers were foreigners from all over. Many happened to be from India which made landon happy. We had boys who could speak Tagalog from the Philippines, and Czech which got us some funny looks because people were amazed that these young boys spoke so many different languages. I guess that happens when you're Mormons right. Landon even got a special order of indian chicken curry made by an Indian chef which made him SO happy since he claims none of the Indian restaurants in america make it right or spicy enough.

The boys took part in the basketball tournaments and won the gold in two separate tournaments. Colie was brave enough to enter into the Ms. Biceps contest, and I took a crown in one of our group games of SPEED with 30 people. It was so much fun!

Getting to go to all these beautiful places only reassures me that Christ created such an amazing place for us to live. There truely are so many majestic places for us to just stand in awe. It was also another time for us to reflect on how blessed we are. The culture and lives of the people who live on these little islands are so different than the life we live. America really is the best place in the world!

After the cruise was over (tear) we were lucky enough to stay an extra night in Puerto Rico. We spent the day touring the town of old San Juan. We went to El Morro, a fort built hundreds of years ago. It was beautiful to see the spanish influence on the little town with beautiful colors and structure. Later that night we went to what may have been my favorite part of the trip. We went to Biluminecent Bay. The night was perfect because it was so dark outside. Basically you kayak through a narrow canal in the pitch black. All of our kayaks has glow sticks at the front and back because it was that dark you couldn't see two feet around you. Anyway, as you paddle in the darkness you start to notice that the wake of the boat in front of you is glowing. Each movement in the water starts to glow and then everyone is just slapping their ore's on the water amazed by the glow it creates! Eventually we ended up in the bay where the microorganisms are so concentrated. He let us get in an swim and warned us about peeing because we'll all be able to see it. Of course, everyone who was there had to try to see if he was just messin with us. Some claimed they could see it, but I didn't see mine haha. It was so fun to watch the water roll down your arm. Landon and I paddled around being ecstatic everytime we saw the fish under our boat swim away. It was pretty dang cool folks. I recommend going to Puerto Rico and doin that. You don't even need a pass port! :)

Well to summerize, it was an amazing vacation that wouldn't have been possible without Blaine and Brenda's generosity. Its so fun to spend vacations with people because you learn so much about them from vacations. We had a great time! I'll definitely look forward to having food readily available, fresh towels folded into animals, regae music everywhere, and the beautiful ocean surrounding again!

Birthday!!

Well it's my big sister's birthday today and I just wanted to give her a little praise. Those of you who know Kasey know that she is the epitomy of T.L.C ( tender, love and care). Growing up, she was always the peacemaker and leader. She never wants to hurt anyone or leave anyone out. She has so many friends because people flock to her caring and generous nature. I am so lucky to have been her little sister and got to watch her every move. I can't even think of a time when she did something and I said to my self, "Well now I'll know not to do that". She is now a mother of two adorable boys. She shows me every time i'm with her how a mother is to be loving, patient and supportive. When she lived up in Utah we got really close and I miss being around her. I get so excited when I know I get to visit AZ.

So Kasey, Happy Birthday! I love you so much and think you are such an amazing person! Have a good day and fun time in Cali. Landon and I wish we could be there with you!

What's in a name?...

We girls know that when we grow up and get married, we get a new name. His. This can be quite exciting. Its almost like you start over as a completely different person.

I have loved being Landon's. Learning to respond to Mrs. Fowler will, however, take some time. I have also learned that changing your name is not as simple as it seems it should. The marriage should somehow magically change your last name on anything and everything that identifies you.

I don't know if I'm a rare case but it has been a hassle for me to get my name changed on everything from my diploma, to my passport, to my drivers license, to my car, to my social security card, to my bank account.

I now understand why landon's sister in law was so eager to marry Landon's brother because she was already a "fowler" (luckily an unrelated fowler). You're probably wondering what the picture has to do with this post... well let me explain. I called to get my address changed on my bank statement. The customer service lady asked me my name and I told her, Courtney Fowler. I proceeded to give her my information and she said that it was all taken care of and to have a nice night "Mrs. Flowers".

As I looked online at my account information, I saw that she had changed my name as well as my address to Courtney S. Flowers. I was pretty upset because this was the 3rd time I had called Wellsfargo. The first time the guy entered in my city as "Probo Utah" so I had to call to correct that. The 2nd time, the number on the address was typed incorrectly and now, my bank statements were going to be sent to a Mrs. Flowers. haha

Landon told me to get used to it because in India, he succumbed to letting the Indian's call him Elder Flower because it was useless to try and correct them. So I've now become content with the fact that I will be called Mrs. Flowers many times again in my lifetime. Maybe Landon and I should consider both changing our name to the Flower's! They're beautiful and smell nice which is exactly what we are!

Conquering the Cougar

Well it has been a while since I've posted. I guess I feel like my life is not that interesting for other people to read about. But I thought I could be able to think of this blog more as a personal journal that will be fun to look back at over the years.

Well the biggest thing that has happened is on April 23, 2009 I graduated from BYU with a 3.79 GPA and received my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Language Pathology! It didn't really seem like a big deal to me because I guess in my mind I always figured I would graduate from college. But I realize that this really is a big achievement considering many people don't get the chance to finish school. I also probably don't feel like it was real because I am still going to be enrolled in school for the next 3 years as I continue on to get my Master's Degree. So I think that once school is completely over, I'll be able to take a deep breath and sigh with relief that I made it. No offense to anyone who majored in elementary education or marriage family human development... but I'm kinda wishing I would have gone that route so I could just be done with school. But I know becoming a speech therapist will be a great opportunity for me to serve others and I will find great joy and satisfaction knowing that I changed someones life for the better.

My family came to see my get my diploma. I am so lucky to have such amazing parents who have supported me over the years. My dad works so hard so that he can provide financially and I am eternally indebted to him. My mom is probably one of the smartest women I know, and she has always been my biggest fan in pushing me to get my degree. They took the long drive up and it was great to get to see them! Even my brother Brian came to the ceremony. What a trooper. Its a pretty long and boring ceremony just so you can hear my name be called among a thousand others and be lost again in the midst of the sea of blue caps and gowns. But it meant a lot to have them there. My in-laws also came down and that was so great to have their support as well. My family is the best!

I made some really good friends these past four years. One of my best friends name is Mandy Goodfellow. We had most of our classes together our last few years at BYU so we got to see a lot of each other. She is the most school driven and critical person I know. haha Luckily she rubbed off on me to make me work a little harder in school, and I think I rubbed off on her to get her to party and not stress out and work so hard. We made a good pair. Unfortunately she is going to grad school in Texas and so we won't be seeing much of each other. But I just want her to know how great it was becoming good friends and that she'll for sure be getting my family Christmas cards for the rest of our lives!

Extra Extra, Read All About It...

Well there has been a lot going on lately and I thought I'd cram it all in to one post

First off, I am graduating this week! Can you believe it? From college! Whooohoo! I made it. I will be receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Language Pathology. This is very exciting. I'm so excited for my parents to come up and support me in this big achievement. The other news is I will be attending the University of Utah in the fall to start my Master's program. Yes, I know I feel like a traitor to my Cougars at the Y and my husband who is true blue, but my heart will always be at the Y where I spent four years and made so many memories.


Another exciting change happening is Landon and I will be moving out of our first home into a different apartment for the summer. The move shouldn't be too bad since school will be out. We are going to be moving to my Aunt Kirsti's basement apartment. The complex we're in now is bumping up our rent to a ridiculous amount and rent at Kirsti's place will save us a lot of much needed money. We're excited and looking forward to another place to call home.


This weekend I had the great opportunity to fly home for my best friend's wedding. Angie was married to Mike Draughon on Saturday April 18th! And luckily I was able to be there for the sealing. I've only been married for a short time so it was especially neat for me to get a refresher and reminder of what covenants I made not too long ago. The temple is a beautiful place and I am so proud of Angie! She made such a beautiful bride. The reception was beautiful and the food was delicious. Congrats Angie and Mike, wish Landon and I were around to play married couples with you! haha

Next thing on the list, My other best friend Dani Hancock got engaged not too long ago. It is so fun for us three musketeers to all be getting married within 6 months of each other! I guess we all decided to grow up and get married together. It's so fun and they have been the best friends ever to me! I am so lucky to have them. We're excited for another wedding to happen in Sept. Here's a picture of us and our different rings. Crazy how such different girls can be the best of friends!


When I was home, I got to spend what little time I did have with my family. I got to go watch my little brother Reece play volleyball. He's on the high school varsity team and plays! He's a true athlete because he's never played volleyball before, and decided to play and he's awesome! It was fun to watch how much fun they have! They won a lot of games and I was proud to be there! GO REECE!


Kasey and Danny went away for the weekend but I got to see them for a whole 2 hours before I left. Cooper was in bed, but Cole was awake and as happy as ever. Kasey calls him her "Angel". He is such a sweet baby, and I hate that I don't get to be there to watch him grow. He's getting cuter and cuter. Landon and I definitely have a lot to live up to when it comes to having cute kids! I love my sister and miss her all the time!

Family Fun

Last Saturday my family from AZ got to come up and enjoy the celebration of the wedding in utah. I loved that we were able to spend some more time together. I especially enjoy playing with my beautiful sister and her adorable family. We were invited to go play with cooper and cole at the Kangaroo gym where they have a ton of blow up slides for kids (and us big kids) to play on. It was so much fun for Landon and I. Cooper just LOVED it! And the boys (meaning Danny and Landon) loved being rough with Coop. Here's some pics from our fun time! We wish we got to see more of them! Also there is a video of Danny and Landon thinking it is fun to throw Cooper around a little bit. He enjoyed it until he got thrown down! haha
