A couple changes happened this last month. To start out, Landon's brother and Sister, Kellen and Sarah moved to Virginia. They have been some of our best friends since we've gotten married. They are so much fun to hang out with. Kellen is going to law school at the University of Virginia. I know that Landon looks up to him so much. He has been the leader of the fowler family and we love him for his hard work and determination to excell. We are going to miss them so much. This last sunday we were able to throw a little going away party for them up in Kaysville. Many friends came and it was so fun to play some games and eat some great food to celebrate this big change in not only Kellen and Sarah's life but our whole family. We won't get to see them much these next few years which is going to be a big change to what we are used to.

The next big change happened in the Scurr family. My big brother Brian got married!! We were all lucky enough to get to go down to Las Vegas for the big event. She is officially the only Scurr girl at the moment. The first night we got there we went to dinner with our two immediate families. It was fun to get to know her and her family a little bit more. We got to party in a limosine for the night which was Landon's first time. His comment about Limo's was "I'm surprised at how tacky they are inside with the shiny plastic and lights" haha its true! The next morning was the wedding and the sealing was beautiful. They were both glowing and could not wipe the smile from their faces. We also went to In and Out Burger after the wedding. Pretty funny since Landon and I did the same thing in our tux and dress! We are so happy for them! Ashton looked beautiful and Brian was as happy as I have ever seen him. It was so fun to get to spend more time with my family since we don't get to see them very often. We look forward to them coming and finishing up school in Provo with us! The more family nearby the better!

LANDON BRUCE FOWLER

Today is my sweet husband's 22nd Birthday!! I wanted to share some pictures of him that just melt my heart! For anyone that knows Landon, they know that he is the happiest, most optomistic person that you'll ever meet. He makes me so happy and I am so lucky that he picked me to spend the rest of eternity with!

Landon love sports. He's grown up in a football family and has a passion for it that is hard to find! He'll do anything to play the game. One of the things that I love most about him is his work-ethic and drive. When he sets his mind to it, there is no stopping him. He amazes me every day with his perserverance. Whether it be in sports, work, school or anything else, he always does his best and never settles for less than GREAT. What a great quality to have!

Even during the awkward junior high retainer days, Landon has melted the hearts of everyone! He's so embarassed that he took this picture with his retainer in! haha I read one of his 6th grade year books and his teacher told him not to break too many hearts! She knew he'd be trouble even in his young age!

Landon has been everything I could have dreamt of in a husband. These last 4 1/2 months of marriage have been so much fun. His laugh keeps on going and I can never get mad at him because he'll just smile at me or laugh and I can't be upset.For those of you who don't know, Landon got accepted into the Accounting Program at BYU. He's so smart and organized and has the perfect mind for this program. It is a great achievement because it's so competitive to get in to. This is the number 1 accounting program in the world, and my babe is gonna be a part of it! I am so proud of him for working so hard to get the grades he needed. He's got a long road ahead but I know that no matter what he does, hes going to be successful because that's just who he is.

Another thing I love about Landon, is the way he loves me! He is so loyal and such a sweetheart! He loves to show me how much he cares by giving me all the kisses and hugs that I want! He tells me every day how much he loves me. I have never felt so wanted or loved in my whole life and I am so blessed to have a person who would do anything for me! I know he's gonna be the best dad in the world when the time comes. He's always been so non-judgemental. He gives everyone the benefit of the doubt and loves everyone for who they are! Another quality that I envy!

Landon is such a helper. He never lets me do the dishes after i've just cooked a meal and he is so tidy and organized that I don't have to worry about straightening or cleaning things. Life with him is so easy! I don't know what I did to deserve such an amazing man! He is my best friend in the whole world and it is so crazy to me that we never get sick of each other. We are together about 22 out of the 24 hours a day! haha the only time we're apart is during his football practice. We are lucky enough to work together and then come home together. Life is bliss and although there are the stresses of life, my babe is always there for me and I couldn't ask for anyone I'd rather be with!

So here's to you babe, I love you so much! Happy Birthday! I hope you know how much you mean to me and how grateful I am to have you in my life!

A little catching up...

Well I have a lot of catching up to do. Landon and I have been extremely busy this summer but have been able to spend some time relaxing and doing the things that we love most!
These pictures are opposite of chronological order, but forgive my laziness because I don't want to spend the time to rearrange them. We were able to get some time off work to go to lake powell and because we were already halfway to AZ we figured we never get the chance to be down there because of landon's football obligations so we jumped at the chance to spend time at my home with my family. Here are some pictures of what we've been up to...



Landon always hated when I said Utah doesn't have good mexican restaurants. He didn't believe me when I told him there was something better out there than Costa Vida or Cafe Rio. When I took him to Rosa's his mind was opened and he knew he'd never tasted Mexican food in the same way. So of COURSE you can't travel 10 hours to Arizona and not eat at Rosa's! mmm... my mouth is craving it now!

Our favorite thing to do while in AZ is see family that we don't get to see very often. Cole is growing up so quickly and I want him to know who his aunt and uncle are! Kasey's boys are so darling and Landon and I loved getting to play with them for 3 days straight! (sorry about Cooper's imodesty in the background, I think it's adorable though)

Cooper absolutely LOVES Landon. They are such buds and it's so cute to see them together. Coop would not leave Landon alone, he moved from swimming to reading to wrestling and back. What a trooper. But it was nice, because Kasey and I got time to hang around. Landon also got to go golfing with Danny. I got to see some friends Chaney and Cory, Dani and Ty, and Angie. I miss them so much! We played games, had a family temple night and we loved every minute of it! I wish Utah were closer to Az.

Before AZ, we were in Lake Powell with Landon's family. They do a powell trip every year and his neighbors the Mitchells who are like family have an incredible houseboat. I've never been to Lake Powell which is shocking I know. But it was so fun and I'm sure my first time there was spoiled because the Mitchell's know how to do it right! The food was ridiculous, the company was fantastic, and the view was uh-mazing! We had a fourth of July tribute and did our own parade with the boats and jet-ski's and waverunners that they had. We all dressed up in silly outfits and paraded through the canyon waving at people. It was so much fun! I love this country!

There were so many fun activities to do! We were only there for 3 days, but never had a dull moment trying to get as many things in as possible. We went kayaking into the deep canyons that go on forever, rode wave-runners, went wakeboarding, tried the air-chair for the first time, broke my neck tubing...

relaxed on the boat, caught some sun, played a "hangy balls" tournament and much more! What a trip!

Rewind some more... I never did get to praise my amazing husband for the triathalon that he ran the week after we got home from the cruise. BYU football holds an ECO Challenge every year and the football players are all supposed to do this, however, by the end over half of the boys back out. I was so proud of Landon for participating! It was completely insane what these boys were required to do. I've never seen so many tough and in shape boys look like they were going honestly die. Boys legs were cramping to the point that they couldn't even bend their legs. The goal is to finish, if they finish, they've done something to be proud of.
Here's what they had to do... (starting at 5am)

1. swim one mile

2. bike to Y mountain

3. Hike Y Mountain

4. Bike to BYU stadium

5. Run (or manage to walk) ALL the stairs in all four sides of the stadium, up and down the same set of stairs.

6. Bike from stadium to Squaw Peak(35miles uphill I might add)

7. Bike back to BYU campus.

8. Complete a "strong man" obstacle course

He finished and got an "ECO WARRIOR" shirt for completing it!

Landon's mother and I followed the course in her car. Many people were so lucky to have us there. She had a backseat full of gatorade, water, powerbars and energy shots. And by the end we were all out. As we drove by boys who were collapsed on the side of the road we'd hand out some food and try to motivate them to keep going. Landon did so good! He didn't ever stop and finished in a good time of 6 hours! It was an accomplishment to be proud of, but he said he's never doing it again! haha

First time Cruise

Well this last week Landon and I got to go on a Royal Carribbean Cruise. It was my first cruise ever and since we were told about it at Christmas, I have been so excited. There was a group of 34 made up of family and friends. It was so much fun to have such a big group. The boat was absolutely amazing. I don't know how that building can float. Every detail inside was beautiful and I was in awe of all the things to do on a boat. We played mini golf, full court basketball, went to shows, an ice skating arena, casino, piano bar and the pool. We were due for a break and vacation and what better place to do it than in the southern Carribbean.

We were lucky enough to visit St. Maarten, St. Croix, Barbados, and St. Thomas. Unfortunately two of our scheduled stops had to be cancelled. We were supposed to get to go to Antigua and St. Lucia but because of someone who had a common cold, those countries refused to let us port because they were fearful of the swine flu. We were all pretty bummed but were able to make the best of it anyway.

All of the workers were foreigners from all over. Many happened to be from India which made landon happy. We had boys who could speak Tagalog from the Philippines, and Czech which got us some funny looks because people were amazed that these young boys spoke so many different languages. I guess that happens when you're Mormons right. Landon even got a special order of indian chicken curry made by an Indian chef which made him SO happy since he claims none of the Indian restaurants in america make it right or spicy enough.

The boys took part in the basketball tournaments and won the gold in two separate tournaments. Colie was brave enough to enter into the Ms. Biceps contest, and I took a crown in one of our group games of SPEED with 30 people. It was so much fun!

Getting to go to all these beautiful places only reassures me that Christ created such an amazing place for us to live. There truely are so many majestic places for us to just stand in awe. It was also another time for us to reflect on how blessed we are. The culture and lives of the people who live on these little islands are so different than the life we live. America really is the best place in the world!

After the cruise was over (tear) we were lucky enough to stay an extra night in Puerto Rico. We spent the day touring the town of old San Juan. We went to El Morro, a fort built hundreds of years ago. It was beautiful to see the spanish influence on the little town with beautiful colors and structure. Later that night we went to what may have been my favorite part of the trip. We went to Biluminecent Bay. The night was perfect because it was so dark outside. Basically you kayak through a narrow canal in the pitch black. All of our kayaks has glow sticks at the front and back because it was that dark you couldn't see two feet around you. Anyway, as you paddle in the darkness you start to notice that the wake of the boat in front of you is glowing. Each movement in the water starts to glow and then everyone is just slapping their ore's on the water amazed by the glow it creates! Eventually we ended up in the bay where the microorganisms are so concentrated. He let us get in an swim and warned us about peeing because we'll all be able to see it. Of course, everyone who was there had to try to see if he was just messin with us. Some claimed they could see it, but I didn't see mine haha. It was so fun to watch the water roll down your arm. Landon and I paddled around being ecstatic everytime we saw the fish under our boat swim away. It was pretty dang cool folks. I recommend going to Puerto Rico and doin that. You don't even need a pass port! :)

Well to summerize, it was an amazing vacation that wouldn't have been possible without Blaine and Brenda's generosity. Its so fun to spend vacations with people because you learn so much about them from vacations. We had a great time! I'll definitely look forward to having food readily available, fresh towels folded into animals, regae music everywhere, and the beautiful ocean surrounding again!

Birthday!!

Well it's my big sister's birthday today and I just wanted to give her a little praise. Those of you who know Kasey know that she is the epitomy of T.L.C ( tender, love and care). Growing up, she was always the peacemaker and leader. She never wants to hurt anyone or leave anyone out. She has so many friends because people flock to her caring and generous nature. I am so lucky to have been her little sister and got to watch her every move. I can't even think of a time when she did something and I said to my self, "Well now I'll know not to do that". She is now a mother of two adorable boys. She shows me every time i'm with her how a mother is to be loving, patient and supportive. When she lived up in Utah we got really close and I miss being around her. I get so excited when I know I get to visit AZ.

So Kasey, Happy Birthday! I love you so much and think you are such an amazing person! Have a good day and fun time in Cali. Landon and I wish we could be there with you!

What's in a name?...

We girls know that when we grow up and get married, we get a new name. His. This can be quite exciting. Its almost like you start over as a completely different person.

I have loved being Landon's. Learning to respond to Mrs. Fowler will, however, take some time. I have also learned that changing your name is not as simple as it seems it should. The marriage should somehow magically change your last name on anything and everything that identifies you.

I don't know if I'm a rare case but it has been a hassle for me to get my name changed on everything from my diploma, to my passport, to my drivers license, to my car, to my social security card, to my bank account.

I now understand why landon's sister in law was so eager to marry Landon's brother because she was already a "fowler" (luckily an unrelated fowler). You're probably wondering what the picture has to do with this post... well let me explain. I called to get my address changed on my bank statement. The customer service lady asked me my name and I told her, Courtney Fowler. I proceeded to give her my information and she said that it was all taken care of and to have a nice night "Mrs. Flowers".

As I looked online at my account information, I saw that she had changed my name as well as my address to Courtney S. Flowers. I was pretty upset because this was the 3rd time I had called Wellsfargo. The first time the guy entered in my city as "Probo Utah" so I had to call to correct that. The 2nd time, the number on the address was typed incorrectly and now, my bank statements were going to be sent to a Mrs. Flowers. haha

Landon told me to get used to it because in India, he succumbed to letting the Indian's call him Elder Flower because it was useless to try and correct them. So I've now become content with the fact that I will be called Mrs. Flowers many times again in my lifetime. Maybe Landon and I should consider both changing our name to the Flower's! They're beautiful and smell nice which is exactly what we are!
