Vacation to San Diego

After graduation, we decided we needed a month of no responsibilities. So a few fun vacations have been planned. We spent the last week in San Diego. Landon's brother Kellen and his wife Sarah are living there for the summer doing an internship. We thought we'd take advantage of free hospitality and it turned out to be an AMAZING time! They are so much fun to hang out with. We are so lucky to be such great friends! We've missed them since they've been living in Virginia and are glad they are back in the west coast for a little while. It was a week PACKED with fun things to do.

My parents came up for my graduation and we decided to break up the drive to cali with a fun stop in Vegas to see Ashton and Brian. It was a short stop but
we got in some gambling.... yes BINGO! haha unfortunately even with our group of 6, the geriatric population showed better skills and none of us won. It made for a fun time. Who knew BINGO could be so intense.

The parents and Brian showing their BINGO cards.

Finally we arrived in San Diego! The first day was a little cold and so we decided it would be a good day for the....

We couldn't help but make an evening stop at the beach...

We went to a country bar and did some country dancing! It was a blast! We got there a little early and they had lesson to learn a couple line dances. It was so funny! So many people came, girls dressed in their daisy dukes and boots (sarah and I felt a little over dressed). We did country cha-cha, the two step, line dances and country swing. They even had 30 minutes where they played hip hop! It was a fun night.

I got FRIED on the first day at the beach. I guess I failed to realize I have been living in utah and haven't seen the sun in two years. So irresponsible me failed to lather my porcelain white skin in sunscreen and got the worst burn in my life. Needless to say, aloe gel and I were best friends for the rest of the week. The boys were nice enough to find other things for us to do since I couldn't bake in the sun the whole time. We visited Balboa park, walked through an art museum, and admired the beautiful architecture. It made for a good day.

We went to Knotts Berry Farm and had a fun day riding roller coasters!

We did a bike ride along the boardwalk at mission and pacific beach!

I went to my very first strip club!! It's actually a strip steak house. It has an amazing atmosphere and you get to cook your own food!! It was delicious! Then we went to a dueling piano bar and sang the night away.

We explored Seaport Village. This guy balances rocks! I made him prove to me they weren't glued and he did! It was awesome!

It was a fun filled week and we were sad to leave the beautiful weather and wonderful company! Thank you to Sarah and Kellen for making it all possible!!

Call me MASTER!

Cinco De Mayo was a FABULOUS day! I officially graduated from my master's program at the University of Utah. It was a LONG draining two years and I can't believe I didn't quit halfway through. We lived in Provo and I commuted to Salt Lake City almost every day for almost two years. It was physically draining and mentally challenging but I survived. If it weren't for my two friends I met and carpooled with, I wouldn't have done it. It was hard but I look forward to feeling accomplished and getting a good job to confirm my decision was a good one. I graduated in Speech Language Pathology.(aka. Speech Therapy). I chose the major because I wanted to make a difference and improve someone's quality of life. I hope to feel fulfilled once I start working and meeting people who struggle everyday to communicate or function independently because of a stroke, disorder, brain injury or whatever it may be.

My wonderful family came to support me on the big day. My parents drove from AZ and my in-laws and grandmother's were so sweet to come. So my father-in-law was asking me how I wanted to celebrate and I sarcastically said I want a "jimmer face". For those of you who don't know, Jimmer Fredette was a BYU basketball player who became an idol. He was famous for a fan blowing up a picture of his head and bringing it to the game and waving it around in the stands. Well with that one conversation, I had almost forgotten I made that joke.

During the ceremony, I walked in and sat down and a friend of mine leans over and mouths "Is that your face?" I look up into the arena and see this...

My big face. And not just one... There's TWO!

This is me doing the "Utes" sign.

I made two of the best friends. Rocio and Lindsey. We made the best out of the commute and danced, talked, and studied during our hour drives. They are incredible girls and I am so lucky to have gotten to know them so well. We know each other better than we would have been able to without the commute, so I guess that is the positive that comes out of the commute. These girls kept me sane, helped me get my good grades through many study sessions, and let me vent any frustrations. I will miss seeing them every day!

Me and my master's "Hood".

My huge face was a hit. Everyone around us were pointing and gasping in awe over how funny and awesome it was. It definitely made me feel special despite the ugly pictures they chose haha. I have the best in-laws!

The graduating class of 2011!!
School is officially over for me and I am ready to PARTAAY!!

We Moved...

After 2 years in a tiny box... we began looking for some. Gotta love my cute husband who will dumpster dive for boxes rather than spend money on buying some. They were in the recycle only bin and in good shape. We're poor and we adapt!! haha We are SOOOOO happy to be moving apartments.

We survived two years in a small basement apartment and are now upgrading! Living without so many things make you appreciate the little luxuries that others may think are standard. We are looking forward to:
-a dishwasher
- not having our dining table, couches, and desk all in our living room
- not scraping snow off our car in the morning because we now have covered parking!!!
- no more drumming (the teenager upstairs plays in the high school band)
-a washer a dryer!! (thank you to Colie/Blair, Gma&Gpa fowler, and Mom/Dad for letting us do our laundry at your place. We couldn't have survived without you!)
-having room in our bedroom to not have to step over our laundry baskets or reach our dresser while laying in bed
- a kitchen with more than a square foot of counter space
-a full size stove (we had a miniature one. probably one that would fit into a RV)
-Being able to buy anything we want at the grocery store without fear we'll have nowhere to fit it. (The refrigerator was miniature as well)
-Normal light switches (our previous ones required you to hold them down for 3 seconds before they would turn on. Imagine if you are in a hurry... ya.)
- No need for electrical adapters. All of our outlets were 2 pronged, so any plugs with 3 prongs needed an adapter)

It was our first place, and we learned a lot about each other by living in such close quarters. Hooray for an upgrade!! We love it! I have mounds of projects in mind and plenty of room to decorate. Let the fun begin!

Farewell Football

After a long 3 years of playing football for BYU, Landon has decided to not play his final year. It was a tough decision but we believe it is for the best. He has had a lot of fun being part of a team, getting to know great guys, keeping in shape and enjoying the perks (clothes, shoes, travel, food, etc.). Landon loves the game and will miss the experience. We have made such good friends and enjoyed trips to the Vegas Bowl and the New Mexico Bowl. I am glad to have my husband back, and we are just beginning to enjoy our free summers. I am so proud of him! He has worked so hard and always put me and our little family first despite his love of football. It will be surreal to watch the games from the stands, but we will always remember the memories we've made being part of the team. Besides, I won't get to check out his cute tight butt in those football pants!! :)

Good Luck Cougs!! We'll be cheering you guys on!!

Elder Scurr

The last but not least of the Scurr boys has been called to serve!

We are so happy and proud of you Reece! You are going to be an incredible missionary!! We love you!!

Two Year Anniversary!

On March 5th, Landon and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary! We had planned to stay at the "Anniversary Inn" in Salt Lake. It is a themed room hotel and we were pretty excited. The day we were supposed to go up, we got a call and they said their boiler had blown and all reservations were canceled. We were pretty bummed. But we stayed flexible and agreed we needed to treat ourselves once in a while and make 2 years feel special because it is! We dressed up, went to dinner at The Roof. It is a upscale buffet at the top of the Joseph Smith Building in SLC. It was beautiful to look at the temple and eat delicious food. Still don't think any food is worth that much money but hey, we were splurging for a special occasion. We then got a room at the Little America. It was beautiful and we had a lot of fun being away for the weekend. It was a great 2 year. I am so happy to have married Landon. Life with him has been so easy, fun and happy. And to think... I get eternity!

24th Birthday

Landon knows I love surprises. Birthdays are fairly overrated and I never expect much. Landon was so cute and totally fooled for my birthday. We were busy with school and my birthday was pretty much like any regular day. We went out to dinner and were going to rent a movie. Landon had set up a little surprise party and I was definitely surprised. Actually when I walked in, I think the friends were more surprised then I was because they weren't ready for me at all! haha Overall it was great. We have great family and friends who were good to celebrate on a school night with us. Man, I'm getting old. 24, was too many candles for me to blow out. Yikes.

St. George Vacay

The weather in Utah is so inconsistent. It's horrible. We were lucky enough to go to St. George and get away with some friends. We stayed at the same golf club resort that High School Musical was filmed at. haha We had a great time playing pickle-ball (a miniature tennis type game), hiking and playing wii. It was great to get out of the cold for a few days. Thank you to Richie and Sarah Jane.
